The Reluctant Brotherhood is a free phone call for people living with prostate cancer. It is a conference call where men learn, talk about ideas and give each other support. We are not doctors, we are the men who are in the game for real. We are the ones who are actually living with prostate cancer.
This is a brotherhood you do not want to join, but if you do have prostate cancer, you definitely want to be a part of this.
This is a free live telephone support group for men with prostate cancer. The biggest gift for you is to talk with other men who are in the same boat. Most guys on the call are friendly survivors who have gone through various treatments or are on watchful waiting. Every man on the call has prostate cancer, although some are ‘cured’.

Why would a guy want to be on this call?
Having prostate cancer is a frightening and weird journey. It’s your journey and you don’t have to go it alone. You can have a safe place to ask questions and get real answers. You will pick up practical tips and get advice from men who are in the same boat
It’s a pleasure to share a few laughs and hear options. It’s relief to hear encouraging words and know that this is not going to last forever. It’s refreshing to hear stories about successes, problems, solutions, screw ups, bad choices, and good choices.

The Inner Conversations Call
This call is for men is for men living with prostate cancer. Technical talk and numbers are kept to a minimum and we focus on our emotional lives, which is something few of us are comfortable talking about.
Even though we try to keep conversations about numbers and procedures to a minimum, these things are going to be part of our conversation and they are important. The trick is to not have the tech talk take up most of our time.
This is a cool way to develop a neat connections with other men who are in the same boat as you. We talk about death, sex and other unusual things. There is a fair amount of teasing and laughing mixed in with serious conversations.
The moderator is the founder of The Reluctant Brotherhood, John Teisberg.
This call happens on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays of every month, start time is 8 pm EST, 7 pm CST, 6 pm MST, 5 pm PST.

How does the call work?

  1. The facilitator writes down a list of everyone who is on the call. Expect some confusion and banter at the beginning of the call while everyone gets connected.
  2. Next the facilitator goes down the list and will ask if you to put on the agenda. It is fine if you want to take a pass and just listen. Feel free to speak up when you want to.
  3. Next we will go through our agenda. If there is time everyone takes a shot at answering the focus question.
  4. Towards the end the facilitator will ask for ideas for the next focus question. The attitude is relaxed and friendly and it is common for men to connect outside of the call.
We shoot for hitting every item on our agenda within 90 minutes knowing we’ll go long sometimes.
    This call is not recorded.

Warning:
These conversations are not professional advice, we are all volunteers. You will hear stories, opinions, recommendations and ideas from regular men who are surviving prostate cancer.

Please join us, you are not alone.

Sincerely,
John Teisberg
